Salvagnac
Salvagnac is an ancient town. In 1220 a Benedictine priory was built here under the instruction of Raimond VI Count of Toulouse..
A barony until the Revolution, this fortified town was besieged in 1587 by the troops of L'Amiral de Joyeuse during the wars of religion. In 1587 Salvagnac was almost razed to the ground by the instruction of the parliament of Toulouse.
Apart from the bases of the towers of the chateau and a few houses dating from the 17 and 18 centuries, such as the house next to the post office, which used to belong to the Murat family, the village was reconstructed in the 19 century and most houses date from that period.
From 1838 to 1950, Salvagnac was an important centre for markets and fairs.
